There are a few files that have to be downloaded before installation can begin. First, you’ll need Xampp, which can be downloaded here.  Download and install the file. Take note of where the file is installed, you’ll need to use it later.

Next, download the WiiMC .zip archive, which can be downloaded here. Unzip the WiiMC folder into your Xampp directory. If you used the default installation options, this will be C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs. Now you will have a C:\Program Files\xampp\htdoc\WiiMC. This is the base directory for your Wii Media Center.

Now you are almost ready to begin using WiiMC. The next step is to connect your Wii to your PC. To do this, you will have to find your computer’s IP Address. To do this: on your start menu, click ‘run’. Type ‘cmd’ into the textbox. A screen will come up with some white text on it. Type ‘ipconfig’ into the window and hit enter. A series of numbers will come up on the screen, your IP Address is marked as such.

You must now start up the Internet Channel on your Wii. Type in a web address in the following format: http://192.168.0.1/wiimc. Replace the ‘192.168.0.1’ in this example with the IP Address of your PC. This will bring you to the Wii Media Center Home Page.

The last thing you have to do is to add media to your Wii Media Center. You’ll have to open the C:\Program Files\xampp\htdoc\WiiMC directory. Copy your files into that directory, and then use your Wii to access them! You can organize your files into folders, and the Media center will still allow you access them.

Wii Media Center only supports music files in the .mp3 format and videos in the .flv format, so you may have to convert your files. Red Kawa makes an excellent file conversion software for converting video called Super 9 video, which can be downloaded here.
