Why use WiiMC?
WiiMC is designed to be the easiest way to start streaming media to your Wii. It may not have every feature(something that the WiiMC team is working on), but we are trying hard to make it accessible to everyone who owns a Wii. Right now the software is in Alpha testing, but soon there will be full documentation on the software.
What do I need to use Wii Media Center?
- Nintendo Wii
- Wireless Router
- Computer Running a PHP-enabled Apache Web Server (This is Xampp)
Why do I need Xampp?
Wii Media Center is a web-based application, and so needs a web server to run. Xampp is a web server on your computer, allowing the system to run. It is not a security risk, as only the files that you put into the WiiMC folder can be accessed through the system. You can also run Wii Media Center on any other PHP-compatible Apache Web Server.
Will this system cost me anything?
NO! Wii Media Center is free, and will remain free.
Why do I need to copy my files into the WiiMC directory?
WiiMC can't read files that are out of its directory at this time. This is an issue that is being worked on, and will hopefully be fixed in subsequent versions of the program
Why can't I play .m4a and .wma music files and video files other than .flv?
WiiMC is web-based, and has trouble with files that aren't read through Flash. This is another issue that is being worked on. For now, use the Super 9 video converter
Stuff isn't working!!!
This is an Alpha release of the program, and it is still under development. We know there will be issues, and we are working to correct them. |
